Algoma Boreal II
Mixed Media, 16 x 20 inches
Triptych (panel 2 of 3)
The inspiration for the Algoma Boreal series was dawn light in an Algoma region (Ontario) forest as clouds were clearing after a heavy rainfall. There is often a slight greenish tinge to the light if it is warm after a heavy rain. I wanted to convey the dampness of forest air and the feeling of looking at the sky through mist and trees as a storm is passing.

“In every human being there is the artist, and whatever his activity, he has an equal chance with any to express the result of his growth and his contact with life. I don’t believe any real artist cares whether what he does is “art” or not. Who, after all, knows what is art?” – Robert Henri (1865-1929)
