Algoma Boreal II
Mixed Media, 16 x 20 inches
Triptych (panel 2 of 3)
The inspiration for the Algoma Boreal series was dawn light in an Algoma region (Ontario) forest as clouds were clearing after a heavy rainfall. There is often a slight greenish tinge to the light if it is warm after a heavy rain. I wanted to convey the dampness of forest air and the feeling of looking at the sky through mist and trees as a storm is passing.

“The artist stands face to face with nature without thinking of himself; he receives everything from it, lets himself be impressed by it without afterthought, and abandons himself to the joy of contemplation.” – Paul Collaer (1892-1989)
